2007.05.20 – Cup Match (1st Round) – EIK - Viking – 0-6

There was never any doubt over the result in the first round of the Norwegian Cup, as Viking ran out comfortable 6-0 winners.

The third division outfit EIK from Egersund were rarely out of their own half and the part-timers struggled against the Stavanger team. Local boy Jone Samuelsen gave Viking the lead after just four minutes when he connected with a cross from Razak Pimpong and Andre Danielsen made it 2-0 in the 19th minute when he beat the offside trap and slotted the ball home in the far corner.

In the second half it was a brilliant attacking display from the visitors with Hannes Sigurdsson and Alexander Ødegaard getting on the scoresheet before a rare goal from left-back Thomas Pereira made it 5-0 with 18 minutes to go. The Icelandic striker Sigurdsson got his second in the final ten minutes after heading in a cross from Ødegaard.

Uwe Rösler was pleased with the match saying: “Everybody played well today. I especially liked the performance in the second half where we created many chances, whilst there were many things that could have been better in the first half.”

Viking will now travel to local team Randaberg, also from the third division, in the next round of the Norwegian Cup.
